Art & Design

The Art & Design Department’s aim is to teach effectively and develop the creative potential of each individual pupil in the school.

We strive for progression and success and set a high expectation where pupils are encouraged to achieve the key goals of CfE (Curriculum for Excellence) – to be Successful Learners, Confident Individuals,

Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens.

The experience in Art & Design is always planned and managed to enable opportunities for pupils to be creative, happy, confident and safe.

We aim to create a structure or framework for learning where young people can develop skill & ability, enhance their knowledge and understanding and produce classwork and coursework that will enable them to reach the expected standards or National Attainment Levels in the BGE (S1-S3) and further progression towards National Qualifications (N3, N4, N5 & Higher) in S4, S5 and S6 for those with the motivation and passion to continue.

Skills for Learning, Life and Work and the opportunity to achieve future ambition or a particular ‘career path’ in the creative industries is the ‘mission’ or at the heart of what we do.
