Model for Improvement

Model for Improvement

Welcome to the Model for Improvement page. Here you will find information, updates and resources that support improvement work within establishments.

Introduction

The Model for Improvement is an aspect of improvement methodology widely used in health care and by the Children and Young People Improvement Collaborative (CYPIC). It provides a framework for developing, testing and implementing changes leading to improvements. If we test out an idea for improvement and it makes a positive difference we can build on it, if it doesn’t we can tweak it or we can go back to the drawing board and start again: in essence, adopt, adapt or abandon.

The Educational Psychology Service has adopted this methodology as a core framework to support our own improvement plan. We are also supporting schools and early years establishments in using this methodology through training and on going coaching/consultation.
