Mills (2009) states that “an increasing number of primary schools are obtaining musical software for computers. Some of it effectively converts the computer into a musical instrument which can be played alongside others. With other software, it is more appropriate for the pupils to compose using the computer alone.” In this session we learned about Garageband which is a computer software used to compose music. Within this software there is a variety of different musical instruments and musical styles where the pitch, pace and timing can be adjusted. This programme is easy to use and allows those who may find learning an instrument hard a chance to be creative and make music. This programme also gives children access to musical instruments which the school do not have and gives them the opportunity to experiment with them. It also crosses the curriculum and allows pupils to practice their ICT skills.
