Week 11

29/11/16

“I can use musical instrument to discover and enjoy playing with sound, rhythm, pitch and dynamics.”  (Expressive arts – curriculum areas – learning and teaching, 2016) In this session we worked toward this outcome by learning to play the ukulele. We began by learning basic notes needed for a tune and we also practised transitioning between the notes which finally put together the tune of the famous nursery rhyme ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’. We then progressed onto the song Last Christmas which had mostly the same notes as the nursery rhyme we had just completed. This would be good for children to progress onto more difficult songs without there being too much of a challenge as they may give up. While doing this activity children would barely notice that they are learning as it feels more like fun.
