Our art input today was led by guest speaker Isobel Mcguire who was a specialist art and design teacher from Woodside Primary School. She led us through stages which resulted in a art piece of a washing line. First we were to draw a washing line (with clothes on it) on A3 paper in felt pen without lifting the pen off the page. I found this quite challenging and so could see how children would enjoy this activity. We then used watercolours to paint the clothes on the washing line before cutting it out.

Then painted a wall on a separate bigger piece of paper. We were given the freedom to choose how we wanted the wall to loo for example size of the bricks however we were provided with pictures of different types of wall in order to spark our imagination.

Finally we used water colours to paint another sheet of paper in strips, this was then ripped up and stuck in a different order on another piece of paper sunset/landscape in the background of the final piece. We were given freedom to choose our colours, this meant that every piece of artwork was different even though  we all followed the same steps.

 

This session allowed us to see that art pieces can last more than one session and never rush a class to finish their pieces because of time restraint. It is also important to give pupils freedom to choose their own colours, designs etc even when we all produce the same picture.
