Digital Leaders

Digital Leaders

In Scottish primary schools, Digital Leaders are pupils selected to promote and support the use of technology and digital literacy throughout the school. They act as ambassadors, mentors, and technical support (providing a bespoke ‘irepair service), often training other pupils and staff on various digital tools and online safety practices.

Examples of Activities:

Training younger pupils on how to use iPads or specific apps.

Sharing information about online safety with their class or the wider school community.

Participating in school events or initiatives related to digital learning.

Creating presentations or videos to demonstrate specific skills or tools.

Organising and leading digital skills workshops or masterclasses – our Technology Playground!

Selection and Training:

Digital Leaders are often selected through an application process, sometimes involving interviews or demonstrating their skills.

They may receive specific training from school staff or participate in cluster events to develop their skills.

Some schools may involve their Digital Leaders in after-school coding clubs or other relevant activities.

Impact:

Digital Leaders can significantly contribute to a positive and effective digital learning environment within the school.

They help to ensure that all pupils and staff have the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

By taking ownership of digital learning within the school, they can foster a culture of innovation and engagement.

Our Digital Leaders work with and are coordinated by our school’s Digital Leader of Learning (DLOL). They have their very own space in school known as the ‘DigiDen’.

In June 2023, our Digital Leaders were successful in attaining a digital grant from the Digital Xtra Fund.

We have currently successfully achieved 4 of the 5 Digital Schools outcomes, we are due to submit the fifth and final outcome in the 2025-2026 school session for our Digital Schools Award.
