Pupil Voice
In Scottish primary schools, “pupil voice” refers to the active involvement of students in shaping their learning experiences and the school environment. This involves giving pupils opportunities to share their views, opinions, and experiences, and ensuring that these are valued and taken into consideration. Pupil voice is seen as crucial for developing the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence: Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens, and Effective Contributors.
Hillhead Primary School has several different pupil voice groups including, Pupil Council, Eco-committee, Fairtrade Committee as well as some smaller groups that may operate for a short time with a specific project or initiative. All the groups allow students to discuss issues and suggest improvements.
