Eco Committee
In Scottish primary schools, an Eco-Committee is a group of students, representing different classes, who work to promote environmental awareness and action within the school and wider community. The committee includes a pupil from each class and is guided by an adult eco-coordinator. They are key to implementing the Eco-Schools Scotland programme, which aims to make sustainability an integral part of school life. We work towards achieving the Eco-Schools Scotland Green Flag award, which is based on the Seven Elements of the Eco-Schools programme. We were most recently awarded Eco School status in December 2024 with an Eco Schools Flag! We also received a commendation for Learning for Sustainability from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
The Eco-Committee will typically focus on topics like energy conservation, waste reduction, biodiversity, healthy living, and global citizenship. Most recently they have been involved I the relaunch of our school forest area.
