What is the Parent Council – and who are we?
Every parent or carer with a child at our school is automatically part of the Parent Forum.
The Parent Forum gives all parents a voice, and it can choose to have those views represented through a Parent Council.
The Parent Council is a smaller group of parents and carer volunteers who work in partnership with the school and local authority, helping to represent the views of the wider parent community and support the school in a variety of ways
We currently have around 25 active members in our Parent Council, made up of a mix of mums, dads and carers.
Co-chairs: Michelle Anderson & Nuala Watson
Treasurer: Jennifer Gibbons
Secretary: Fiona Morrison
When people hear “Parent Council”, there can sometimes be a bit of a stereotype – the idea that it’s just a group of mums with lots of spare time on their hands. The reality is very different!!
Our Parent Council is made up of busy parents/carers, all with different commitments, who give whatever time they can. Some help regularly, others support at events or behind the scenes – every contribution matters.
So, what do we actually do?
We work together to support the school community, organise events, raise funds for resources and opportunities, and help ensure parent voices are heard.
Being part of the Parent Council isn’t about having lots of free time – it’s above giving whatever time you can. Whether that’s attending a meeting, helping at an event, or simply sharing ideas, every contribution makes a difference.
Most importantly, we are a group of people who care about making the school the best it can be for all of our children.
Please get in touch if you’d like to get involved – whether that’s staying informed about what’s happening, helping at our events, or joining the committee as a regular volunteer – we would love to hear from you. Hillheadprimaryparentcouncil@gmail.com.
