If your young person attends Dumfries Academy, you’re automatically part of the Parent Forum. The Parent Council have an elected Chair, Treasurer and Secretary who represent you as the wider parent forum, look after the finances generated through fundraising and grants and organise meetings and events to include as many parents/carers as possible.
The Dumfries Academy Parent Council meets termly to represent parents and work closely with the school to:
- help create the best experience for pupils at Dumfries Academy through providing funds, offering support, organising events and promoting partnerships with the wider community
- share parents’ views and ideas with the school leadership team and facilitate consultation with the wider parent forum
- have a say in choosing headteachers and deputy headteachers and support the school during inspections when needed.
Being involved is a great way to make a difference. We welcome all parents and carers to take part and help shape our school community! There is no requirement to attend every meeting – we understand that everyone is busy and welcome any contribution whether it is to share your views, help with fundraising or make suggestions for improvements.
