Burns Supper 2026

Dumfries Academy is holding its annual Burns Supper on Friday 13 February. This well-established event has grown in the last 3 years and has showcased the talents of pupils, past and present, as well as providing a great opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of the school. We have been delighted to welcome non-Scots families and to share some of the traditional Burns’ celebrations in including a 2-course supper, recitations, reflections, musical performances, dancing, a baking corner for our younger guests and even a licensed bar. We also have a great raffle, with a hamper containing Scottish Fayre as our top prize.

The event is a collaboration with our Parent Council, partners and pupils. We have been blown away by the quality of the speakers and performers and have been fortunate to have a wealth of talented pupils at Dumfries Academy who have established a fine tradition of honouring Burns in our school and beyond. Among our guests this year are Dr Gillian Brydson, Executive Director of Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing and Hugh McMillan, Poet and former teacher of Dumfries Academy. Pupil performances include a recitation from Teigan Weir, our Head Person, who has a distinguished record in local and national Burns Competitions supported by a very talented group of our pupils who are excellent musicians and public speakers, with notable successes to their names.

Tickets for the event are on sale now from our school office. Why not get together with friends and colleagues to purchase a table ticket. You can pre-order a ticket for pick up on the evening by contacting our Parent Council at the following address: dumfriesacademypc@gmail.com.  Alternatively, pop into our school office or send your child along to purchase tickets. We accept cash or BACS payment. Please contact the school if you have any queries about purchases.

Please see photos of our previous suppers, as well as a poster containing the event details.
