When starting of on a new path a whole load of mixed emotions is often experienced. Well today was the start of a new beginning for me, today was finally the day I was going to university. It’s a day I have always had in my mind, coming from a background where no close relatives had been made it to higher education made me want to achieve more.

I was excited to experience my first taste of university life but also very nervous about approaching new people. I made my way into the building and suddenly felt like I was Dory lost in a big ocean searching for answers. Where was my class, the toilets and the library?. Although there was help on hand from older students in pink T-shirts, while taking me to the classroom that my day would start in the girl gave me advice; “just speak to people and engage”.

At the end of the day I had met many people from various places and had realised that that one piece of advice was crucial to starting my journey at university.
