In todays class we were introduced to the painting entitled ‘Windows in the West’ by Avril Paton. Considering this piece of artwork we were prompted to develop our analytical thinking into the story behind it. We watched a video where Avril Paton explained more about the painting, here is the link to view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVDRL6wsQYU
Then we used one of the windows from the painting to create a print making. Fist we ingrained a window in a piece of polystyrene with a pen. Then we rolled red and green paint onto a wooden board and applied it to the polystyrene.
We pressed the polystyrene onto a piece of paper and added more detail by engraving with a pen. Exampled which could be added are like Christmas trees, a pet, lights etc. We rolled the different colours of paints and printed it onto the top of the paper.
This was a very fun activity and would be very engaging for pupils to do.
MUSIC
In this music session we were introduced to another music resource, Charanga. This resource would help to deliver music lessons as it has all the resources available. There are lesson plans, gamed and also assessments so pupils can test themselves. Having before done this module I was not too confident in teaching music but now having this resource I feel I could effectively teach music. Pupils will engage with this resource as they can get to know all the different types of instruments and styles of music.
