Week 10

MUSIC

In this music session we were learning all about our voices. The importance of warming up your voice as teachers use their voices constantly thought-out the day and its important to take care of it. Instead of shouting for discipline, other methods can be used such as a disappointed look. Also for getting the pupils attention you could clap your hands to a rhythm and get them to repeat, this puts less strain on the voice. Warm up activities at the start of each day will help the voice, these are also important to do before doing a music lessons for the pupils.

”I can sing and play music from a range of styles.”(Expressive arts – curriculum areas – learning and teaching, 2016).

It is also important that children experience using their voice and make sounds on a regular basis which could be through singing. I think that singing is great way of getting children’s attention through singing a phrase to the children and getting them to respond by singing back another phrase. I also think that it is useful to use songs for all ages to help children remember facts. This could be through a tune that they are familiar with then using alternative lyrics to fit the learning or topic.

So overall the voice is very important to take care of and there are many ways of doing this.
