Starting Primary School

October, 2024

Dear Parent,

As you are aware the school P1 registration week takes place at the beginning of November each year.   If you wish to enrol your child for the start of the new school session in August 2025, (children should be 5 years between the following dates):

1 March 2025 and the 28 February 2026.

Parents/carers of our N5 children due to start school in August 2025 should register their children for local primary school.  This should be done during the week of;

Monday 4 to Friday 8 November 2024.

To register you should complete an online application and submit no later than Friday 8 November 2024.

Therefore, we can confirm that this year’s P1 registration for those children due to start school in August 2025, will commence Monday 4 November until Friday 8 November 2024.

  1. You need to apply for school using the following link;

 We will then ask you to complete a quick online form to let the Team at Adelphi Nursery know whether you’ve been able to apply online or whether you need some help from our Office Staff (who will be happy to help you).  This form can be chosen in other languages to assist you.

  1. Once you have applied online for school:  Please complete this quick set of questions via forms to share information with us at Adelphi Nursery.

This is so that you can share information with us and we can then liaise with staff at your chosen school (once your place is confirmed by Glasgow City Council).  We will work with staff to ensure a smooth transition.

Please let us know if we can assist you and don’t forget to come along to our P1 Transition Parents Information Session on November 6th (come at either 10am or 2pm) where our Acting Team Lead Lindsay will talk to you about Transition and about starting School.  This will be a relaxed informal session and you will get the opportunity to ask lots of questions and will learn about the processes we adopt to give your child a smooth and happy transition!

Yours sincerely

Karen O’Hara, Head of Centre

Below is information about transitions for those that can’t attend our Parents Information Sessions

We wish to make sure that Transition is as seamless as possible ensuring your child is at the centre of everything.  Starting School is a big process and we recognise that as well as our children having worries or questions, during this time, that you may also have some questions.

Please do not hesitate to speak with us if you are finding anything worrying or need some guidance with anything.

For our children we will start to chat about any worries they share, to make sure transition is a smooth and happy one.  We will start working on Transition early in the New Year!
