PATHS

Within the nursery we use the PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) programme which provides the children with opportunities to develop emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually.

The PATHS programme is designed to facilitate the development of self-control, positive self-esteem, emotional competence and understanding in children.

Children are encouraged to learn about the feelings of others and learn skills to support them to learn about respect the needs and wishes of others.  This is facilitated through weekly lessons and the help of out characters (Twiggles the Turtle, Henrietta the Hedgehog, Duke the Dog and Daphne the Duck) where children get to reflect on their own and others’ stories.

At times, you will be given PATHS homework to do with your child. this helps your child understand what the weeks PATHS lesson was about and gives them opportunity to reflect at home.
