Planners from Jacobs will be visiting Breadalbane Academy and Pitlochry High School to judge the S1’s sustainable towns.  Pupils will also learn how to use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to design their towns.

Jacobs Geographical Information Systems (GIS ) team will be visiting Breadalbane Academy and Pitlochry High School to work with the S4 maths class.  They will be looking at the mathematical analysis of the ‘sustainable town’ maps created from World Town Planning Day, held the previous week with the S1’s.

The Academy9 team will be up in Breadalbane Academy on 4th-6th September to run our 2.5 day Apprenticeship Academy.  Pitlochry High School pupils will also be joining us.  Pupils will carry out workshops on risk resolution, road surveying, the environment and structures.  They will then take their new knowledge from the workshops to complete a mega challenge – to build a bridge over a 3D landscape.  The final challenge will

The Academy9 team will be running our Next Steps Workshop at Breadalbane Academy on 20th September.  The workshop aims to prepare pupils for the workplace by helping them with CV writing, carrying out mock interviews and speed networking with professionals working on the A9 as well as local businesses.

Academy9 team will be visiting Breadalbane Academy to carry out a town planning workshop using ArcGIS, a geographical information system.  Pupils need to take into account different land uses to decide what will be included in their town then they will plot it using the ArcGIS web app. Judging ceremony will follow on 8th November – World Town Planning Day!

Academy9 has supported the Breadalbane Academy geography teacher in delivering a series of town planning workshops, including using industry standard GIS software.
