Are you taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch from 27th – 29th January?
Are you taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch from 27th – 29th January? Academy9 has been raising awareness and playing our part with a visit to Pitlochry Primary School for our Early Birds Event.
We worked with the P1-2s to explore:
- Birds that are native to Scotland, helping them feel confident in their Bird Watching activities!
- Food chains and how each plant or animal plays an important role.
- Rare species, looking at how changes in a food chain can lead species to become endangered.
The workshop finished on a playground scavenger hunt to find as many hidden bird cards as they could, to then place how common or rare they are in Scotland on a pyramid.
Pupils were then left with instructions for making their own bird feeder so they can attract some of the birds they’ve been learning about!
