Academy9 September Roadshows
Last month the Academy9 team travelled from Glasgow to Grantown and delivered our Roadshow event for 4 primary schools over two days. Young people in Primary 6 and 7 from Carrbridge, Abernethy, Deshar and Grantown all participated in our first in person event in over two years.
The Roadshow event gives young people an insight into three STEM based careers, placed in the context of the A9 Dualling programme. Teachers enjoyed seeing their young people carry out the job role of an Ecologist, Geologist and Engineer during the carousel activity.
Young people learned how to gather and interpret data needed in a major highways project and then proceeded to use this data to make informed decisions and problem solve.
With professionals from engineering firms Atkins and WSP leading the session, there is an unmatched depth in knowledge and an enhanced learning opportunity for young people who may want to consider a future career in STEM.
With many ties to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, Teachers were grateful for the opportunity and were looking forward to delivering the Roadshow extension lessons provided at the end of the day.
We have received some lovely emails from our Partner schools since the event;
“Thank you very much for a fantastic session today. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it.”
