Excellent attendance is of critical importance to your child’s success at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary.
If your child is going to be absent due to illness or a GP/dental appointment, you should not contact the school directly. You have two options.
Option 1
You can contact the council’s Pupil Absence Line by phone on:
0141 471 3710 OR 0141 287 0039
Option 2
You can also report absence using an online form. This may be a more suitable option as typically it can be completed more quickly than calling the absence line. To use this service, you must register with myaccount. If you are not registered for myaccount, you can register by clicking the link below:
Myaccount is a secure sign-in service, for people living in Scotland to use online public services. You can set up an online account using a single username and password to access a range of online Glasgow City Council services. Registration and sign-in for your online account is powered by the Scottish Government’s ‘myaccount’ service. It checks who you are and allows you to use a single account to access a range of Scottish public services online.
Registering takes about five minutes, and you’ll be able to access certain services right away.
myaccount has been carefully designed to give you highly secure access to public sector services and keep you in control of your personal information.
Other Absence
If your child will be absent for a reason other than illness or a medical appointment, you should contact the school office directly on:
0141 582 0280.
Examples of such absences would be if you are taking your child on holiday during term time, or if there are extenuating circumstances which mean that your child cannot attend school.
Text messages
The school sends text messages home at certain points in the day if a child is marked as not being in class and the school has not been informed of a reason for absence. If you receive a text, please respond so that the school can update your child’s attendance accurately.
It is crucial that student attendance is recorded accurately. Please ensure that you report absence accordingly. If you would like to discuss further, please contact your child’s pastoral care teacher.
