Enrolment Procedures

Enrolment

Your child will normally transfer from Primary School to Secondary School at Primary 7 stage between the ages of 11 ½ and 12 ½.

Enrolment request

This will help you make a Placing Request to St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School for your young person.

If you are in the catchment area but currently attend a local non-denominational school, this is treated as Placing Request.

If your young person currently attends another denominational school out-with the catchment area, you need to make a Placing Request.

Make a Placing Request to St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary via the Glasgow City website.

Overseas enrolment

This will help you to enrol your child in a Glasgow City Council Secondary School. We will get in touch shortly to invite you to come in to school for an enrolment meeting. You will need to bring the following documents with you to the meeting.

  • If you are a British National Returning to the UK: your passport, your child’s birth certificate and proof of your address.
  • If you are an Irish National: your passport, your child’s passport, your child’s birth certificate and proof of your address.
  • If you are a Hong Kong Resident Moving to the UK: your passport, your child’s passport, your child’s birth certificate, your British Nationals Overseas Visa (BMO) and proof of your address.
  • For all other nationals entering the UK (including family members without UK or Irish Citizenship): your passport, your child’s passport, your child’s birth certificate, your reason for being in the country.

❌ If you are in the UK on a 6-month Standard Visitor visa, or an 11-month Short-term Study (English language), we are unable to enrol your child as a pupil at a state-funded school.

❌ Photocopies of documents are not acceptable – only original documents are acceptable.

No enrolment can take place until your child is resident in the city. When attending an appointment at school, you must take your child with you.

Please be aware that entry to the UK is a decision for the UK Government. It is the parent’s responsibility to check if they have a right to reside in the UK before applying for a school place.
