ESOL classes
Mrs Ferman is our ESOL teacher and can build up your competance and confidence in English – helping you to gain futher qualifications throughout the school.
Coffee mornings
Three times a year we run a coffee morning for families who don’t speak english as a first language. You can come along and get to know your community, the school support and help each other. Check @parentalSTA for details.
Saturday classes
Every Saturday morning from 10am – 12pm Mrs Ferman runs english classes for families. These classes will help you to support your pupil through their education and support you within our community.
Digital tools
Mrs Ferman wont be there for the rest of your life to support you – so you need to make use of our tools to translate your classwork. Everyone gets their own iPad which has a range of translation tools. Apple and Microsoft translate apps can translate words from the camera, from voice or typed words. Immersive reader can translate any document or worksheet on Class notebook and OneNote.
Using these tools together in class will allow a non-english speaking pupil to access the lesson and learn along with everyone else. These independance skills will be there in your future after school.
