Pupil Council

Comprising many children from P3 to P7, St Francis’ Pupil Council has the responsibility of representing the pupils of our school. We discuss the needs, issues and concerns of our pupils with the Mrs McLaughlin on a monthly basis and report back to our classes what has been discussed. We also have responsibility for encouraging and organising school events which bring the pupils and staff together either for fun, to raise awareness or raise funds for the school.

This year so far, we have discussed the school values and issues in our school and how best to inform the Council of important issues. The Council has decided a suggestion box should be placed in every classroom for all pupils to access and a notice board should be placed in the school to highlight any important information. Young people can also talk to their class representatives during Pupil Council discussion slots which will happen on the back of each meeting allowing Councillors to inform pupils of what has been discussed. As you know St Francis was awarded with the Bronze Right Respecting School certificate last session and we are looking to take us to Silver in the near future.

Our next meeting will be held in October 25th.
