Science and its practical application in healthcare and industry is central to our economic future, for our health and wellbeing as individuals and as a society.

Through learning in the Sciences, children develop their interest in, and understanding of, the living, material and physical world.  They engage in a wide range of collaborative investigative tasks, which allows them to develop important skills to become creative, inventive and enterprising adults in a world where the skills and knowledge of the sciences are needed across all sector of the economy.

Our Social Studies programmes and courses cover:

People, past events and societies
People, place and environment
People in society, economy and business

Through Social Studies, children and young people develop their understanding of the world by learning about other people, societies, their beliefs and values.

They also develop their understanding of their environment and how it has been shaped. Educational visits may be arranged to places of interest.

Members of the local community and business partners are invited into school to add practical and personal contributions and put learning in the context of real life and work during our Developing the Young Workforce topic.

We also offer opportunities for all pupils to participate in Enterprise projects, such as our Christmas Fayre initiative. Enterprise encourages all young people to learn and develop in a way that meets their needs and develops skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work.
