Introduction – What is Morality?

Pupils examine the influences on their moral decision making and look at and evaluate religious and non-religious moral stances.

 

Moral Issues – Capital Punishment

Pupils learn about capital punishment and its implementation throughout the world.  Pupils explore the arguments for and against capital punishment and examine religious and non-religious viewpoints on it.  Pupils develop their own informed opinion backed up with well justified reasons.

 

Moral Issues – Medical Ethics

Pupils explore issues to do with euthanasia and embryo research and look at arguments for and against each.  Pupils learn how different religious and non-religious people might respond to these issues and develop their own informed opinion backed up with well justified reasons.

 

Investigation – Pupils choose their own moral issue to research and write an investigation on.  This will include knowledge and understanding of the issues and analysis and evaluation of different viewpoints.  Pupils will conclude with their own informed view backed up with well justified reasons.
