National 4/5 RMPS

In our National 4/5 class we build on the learning and skills developed in core classes.  We learn how to listen to others and debate our point of view on moral and philosophical issues.  We also learn about the beliefs and values of others and consider their impact on the wider world and on ourselves.

Sikhism – In this unit pupils learn about the beliefs and practices of people from within the Sikh community and we develop the skills of analysis and evaluation as we ask our pupils to critically reflect on these.

ConflictIn this unit pupils explore the causes and consequences of war.   They learn about religous and non religious responses to war and critically analyse and evaluate these responses.  Pupils develop thier own informed opinion backed up with justified reasons.

Arguments for the Existence of God – In this unit pupils explore the God of classical theism and look at the types of arguments that might be presented to prove his existence.   Pupils critically analyse and evaluate these arguments and come to their own informed conclusion on the issue

The Assignment – Pupils at National 5 choose a religious, moral or philosophical issue to research, analyse and evaluate and come to a conclusion on.  They then produce their assignment which is written up during exam conditions and marked externally.  This assignment is worth 25% of the overall grade.
