Higher RMPS

In Higher RMPS we build on and develop our skills and knowledge from core and from the National 4/5 class.  It is NOT necessary that pupils have a qualification from the National  4/5 RMPS class in order to sit Higher.  If pupils have an appropriate English qualification we will welcome anyone who is interested and enthusiastic about RMPS.  The more the merrier!

Buddhism

In this unit pupils learn about the beliefs and practices of people from within the Buddhist community and we develop the skills of analysis and evaluation as we ask our pupils to critically reflect on these.

Medical Ethics

In this unit pupils learn about treatment of embryos, euthanasia and organ donation.   They learn about religous and non religious responses to these issues and critically analyse and evaluate these responses.  Pupils develop thier own informed opinion backed up with justified reasons.

Origins

Pupils explore different views about the beginnings of the universe and life.  They look at the views from science and religion and analyse and evaluate opinions which suggest these are at odds with each other.  They also examine views which suggest both are needed for a full explanation of human life.  Pupils finally develop their own informed view on the questions backed with justified reasons.

The Assignment

Pupils choose, research and complete an assignment written up in exam conditions.  This assignment is worth 25% of the overall grade.  The assignment must be on a religious, moral or philosophical question and must demonstrate knowledge and understanding as well as the skills of analysis and evaluation.
