Religious Education
As a Catholic school, faith is at the heart of life at Our Lady of the Annunciation Primary School and is reflected not only in Religious Education, but throughout the wider life and learning of our school.
Our Religious Education programme follows This Is Our Faith, the national syllabus for Religious Education in Catholic schools in Scotland. Through their learning, children develop their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, Scripture, prayer, Church traditions and the life and teachings of Jesus.
Religious Education also provides opportunities for children to pray, reflect, ask questions and consider how their faith and values can guide the choices they make and the way they treat others. Their faith development is enriched through prayer and liturgy, celebrations throughout the Church year, preparation for the Sacraments and opportunities to put faith into action.
As part of their learning, children also develop an awareness and understanding of other Christian traditions and world religions, helping them to grow in knowledge and respect for the beliefs and traditions of others.
