School Uniform

School Uniform & PE Kit

At Our Lady of the Annunciation Primary School, we encourage all pupils to take pride in wearing our school uniform. Our uniform helps create a sense of belonging and identity, promotes equity across our school community and supports the high standards we have for all our children.

Our School Uniform

Our school colours are blue and grey.

Our school uniform consists of:

  • Light blue school shirt
  • School tie
  • Plain blue jumper or cardigan
  • Plain grey trousers, skirt, pinafore or shorts
  • Suitable school shoes

During warmer weather, blue and white gingham summer dresses may also be worn.

We encourage pupils to wear their shirt and tie each day.

School Ties

Pupils in Primary 1–6 wear our standard school tie.

Our Primary 7 pupils wear the school’s senior crested tie, recognising their role as the oldest pupils and leaders within our school community.

School ties are available to purchase from the school office for £7.

Ordering School Uniform

Badged school uniform items are available from Stevensons, either online or from their Clarkston Road shop.

Families are also welcome to purchase plain uniform items in our school colours from other retailers.

PE Kit

Pupils should come to school wearing their school uniform each day and bring their PE kit with them to change into for PE.

Primary 1–3

To make changing easier for our younger children, Primary 1–3 pupils may wear their blue school polo shirt to school on PE days.

They should still wear their usual grey school trousers, skirt, pinafore or shorts and bring their PE bottoms and trainers with them to change into.

Primary 4–7

Primary 4–7 pupils should come to school in their usual school uniform, including shirt and tie, and bring their full PE kit with them to change into.

Our PE Kit

  • Blue school polo shirt
  • Dark jogging bottoms, leggings or shorts – dark grey, navy or black
  • Trainers

PE lessons may take place indoors or outdoors, so pupils should have suitable kit and footwear for both.

All pupils should also bring a filled water bottle to school each day.

Jewellery & PE

For health and safety reasons, all jewellery must be removed before taking part in PE. Jewellery and other personal effects can become caught or cause injury to the wearer or another pupil during physical activity.

Jewellery must not be covered with tape. Glasgow City Council guidance confirms that taping jewellery does not remove the risk of injury and is therefore not permitted.

If a pupil is unable to remove their jewellery, for example following a recent piercing, they will not be able to take part in the physical elements of the PE lesson. They will instead be included through an appropriate alternative activity, such as timekeeping, scoring, observing or analysing.

Families considering new piercings are encouraged to arrange these at the beginning of the summer holidays, allowing sufficient time for healing before pupils return to school and PE lessons.
