Free School Meals

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if you are eligible for any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support or Jobseekers Allowance
  • Both Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit with a household income of £7500 or less
  • Universal Credit with a monthly earned income of not more than £625
  • Child Tax Credit only with an annual income of less than £16,105
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Asylum Seeker, receiving support under part IV of the Immigration Act 1999.

Clothing Grant

You may be eligible for a school clothing grant if you have a child that attends a Glasgow school and you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Housing Benefit/ Council Tax Reduction (this is not Council Tax single person’s discount or student discount)
  • Universal Credit (UC), and your monthly take home pay is £625 or less.
  • Income Support/Income based Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA) or any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Child Tax Credits only (CTC) with an annual income of less than £16,105
  • Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit with an annual income of less than £15,050
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Education Maintenance Allowance

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly allowance paid to help young people in education beyond the statutory school leaving age of 16. The EMA is paid directly to young people, who qualify if they meet the following criteria:

  • Household income must be under £24,421 (for one dependent child in household) or £26,884 (for two dependent children in household)
  • Attend a Glasgow School
  • Aged 16 to 19 years old
  • Attend school for a minimum of 21 agreed learning hours per week
  • Where appropriate, willing to participate in an approved learning agreement at school
  • Where appropriate, willing to participate in an approved Activity Agreement, a tailored package of activity that has been designed around the young persons, interests, career aspirations and future skills needs.

Internet at Home

If your child does not have access to the internet at home, please call and speak with your child’s Pastoral Care teacher.

The school may be able to provide you with a SIM Card in order to support your child to engage at learning at home on their iPad.

Free New/Recycled Uniform and Clothing Store

The school has a store of uniform and casual clothing which is accessible free of charge. This is part of our initiative to become more sustainable, and we have good quality second hand uniform stock available, as well as other clothing including jackets, shoes, school bags etc. We also have a wide range of brand new clothing.

This is free of charge and can be accessed without question.

Please speak with your child’s Pastoral Care teacher to learn more about how to access this support.

Financial Inclusion Support Officer

If you are on a low Income and have children at school you may be entitled to financial support. For free advice and additional information regarding your financial situation it may be worth speaking to the Financial Inclusion Support Officer (FISO)

You can contact the directly, or call the school and speak to your child’s Pastoral Care teacher who will be happy to make a referral on your behalf.

The FISO can support with:

  • applications for free school meals
  • applications for clothing grants
  • applications for educational maintenance allowance
  • applications for education benefits, welfare benefits and disability benefits including Child Benefit and Universal Credit
  • debt management
