Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is a seven-year programme (2014-2021) that aims to better prepare children and young people aged 3–18 for the World of Work. This programme builds on the foundations already in place through Curriculum for Excellence.
Our aim at Bellahouston Academy is to support young people into making informed choices about their post-school destinations. We do this by offering careers education, work placements, vocational pathways (part-time college programmes), STEM input, partnering with industry, subject specific career information, and career mentoring programmes. We also offer dedicated time to all our leavers to ensure they have applied to the right courses (and other opportunities) at the right levels.
Pathways for pupils include moving on to university, college, training programmes, employment and apprenticeships. Pupils can also choose to take a gap year to travel or volunteer.
For further information, please contact Ms Baber Principal Teacher World of Work on gw16baberrabia@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk or our dedicated Career Advisors who are based in the school. You can email Tamla on tamla.feeney@sds.co.uk
