Literacy Week In Primary 3/2

Our Learning Reflection This week Primary 3/2 have had a super week doing lots of literacy related activities. Holly – We got to dress us as a character from our favourite book. Primary 1a Bookworms!

The boys and girls in Primary 1a love to read books and listen to stories. On Tuesday, we all visited our school library to borrow a book to enjoy back in class. There was a fantastic choice of books and we hope to visit every week to change our books. A huge thank you to our librarians Salome and Ryan who did a great job of helping us!

Syllable Counting with Primary 1b

Primary 1b had great fun counting the syllables or beats in words as part of their work with Phonological Awareness.  We counted the number of syllables in words, using claves and then sorted them into the correct number columns.  We even managed to squeeze in a syllable jumping game too!  

Primary 2 Learning Log – There’s A Bear On Balornock Primary’s Chair

Primary have been reading Ross Collins’ book There’s A Bear On My Chair. They loved it so much they decided to write Ross a letter to tell him how fantastic his book is. Hairy MacLary Workshop

Last Tuesday, we took part in a ‘Hairy MacLary’ workshop led by a visiting drama specialist named Louisa. We had lots of fun being in the role of the characters from the stories and were also very successful in finding the items that had gone missing from Donaldson’s Dairy by following the clues. Story Time in Primary 1

This week the Primary 1s have been very busy reading lots of new stories.  At the beginning of the week some children read Peace At Last written by Jill Murphy.  Their favourite part was when Mother Bear’s snoring kept Father Bear awake! Both Primary 1 classes also took home their Bookbug bags with lots of exciting goodies inside!
