Well done, Kit! 🙂

Can you name all the objects your friends chose to spell their names? I needed a bit of help with some of them! The answers are at the bottom of the blog post along with the name of the winner of the extra point.

I set a challenge today for you to revise your skills at the level you are working at. It runs until 3pm on Friday. (Well done to Kit who was on today and is already part way through the challenge!)

Phone calls

I started phoning some of you again today and will be phoning more of you tomorrow and Thursday. Points were given to the 3 people I spoke to today and the rest of your points are coming when I chat to you later this week. Lovely to see you and chat with you ♥

Bilal you were my first call and I was so excited speaking to you I forgot the photo again  🙁 Maybe I’ll give you a quick phone again at the end of the week to get one!

Aiyub and Mariam we remembered, here are our screenshot selfies! 🙂

Your fabulous work today

Thank you for sending photos of your other learning today, as always this made me very happy 🙂

Ivo has been working very hard on his multiplying at home, well done! He has also been doing some handwriting of the letter a.

Subahn was working on adding HTU and remembered to show any units or tens he had to carry, well done! He also did some phonics and completed his wellness diary.

First photos of Huzaifa’s work this week so a point for you, well done! He has been busy doing some 2 digit multiplication which is very tricky and also finding nouns, verbs and adjectives in a book.

First photos of Mariam working too today, well done, I have also given you your point! Mariam was practicing some times tables and doing her phonics spelling work.

Hector started doing some of his Harriet Tubman comprehension and worked on some tasks from the home learning grid including finding some nouns, verbs and adjectives in a book and cooking a recipe (making a most delicious looking massive cookie!), great job! He is also doing some seed planting with his family, a great project for just now while there is lots of time at home to look after them, well done! For his daily exercise Hector went on a google safari!

Aiyub wanted to show you in more detail today the character in his character profile. He is called Shakes and I heard lots about him in our phone call today 🙂 He also did some phonics and some of his Qumon homework. Aiyub never found items beginning with the letters of his name but did a scavenger hunt to build the letters of his name, a very cool idea so I have given you a point as well!

Kit completed his comprehension work on ‘A Monster surprise’ today and worked on his maths on Sumdog, well done! He also sent a photo of him doing a Disney jigsaw last night, such a n excellent relaxing hobby.

Scavenger hunt answers & extra point

Subhan – Sharpener, Umbrella, Bottle, Hairbrush, Apple, Notepad

Hector – Hippo & H cushion, Elmer and E letter, Cookie & crab, Teapot, Orange, Raccoon & rope

Kayden – answers in the video narrated by Kayden’s mum

Very tough decision as always when I have to pick a winner for things,  as the class is so excellent but I have chosen……. Kit! He was the only one to do both first name and surname and was very creative in using his body parts in his picture too 🙂 Well done, Kit!

Points chart

So here is the points chart at the end of Tuesday. Remember there are lots of points I’m noting down for great work I receive that I will give out again on Friday! Keep working hard 🙂

Day 6 work

Points

Thank you for sending me more photos of your learning today, it always makes me smile to see you and what you have been up to 🙂

Again this week I am giving out a point if you send me photos of your learning. Already this week Ivo, Subhan, Kit and Hector have earned this point, well done boys!

Very exciting news for Subhan, as his point for sending photos of his work this week means he is the first person to get 10 points!!!

 Congratulations Subhan 🙂

Subhan will get first pick from the prize box when we go back to school 🙂

Here is the chart at the end of Monday (remember I will be giving out lots of points throughout the week for different work you complete)  –

Birthday photos

Kayden’s mum sent me a photo of his delicious birthday cake at the weekend and here was the birthday boy enjoying a slice yesterday!

Your work today

Ivo was very busy baking pancakes this morning (this is one of the learning tasks on your home learning grid – to cook one of your favourite recipes) and added some yummy Nutella. Don’t they look delicious?! He was also building with his Lego for play time. You look like you’re having lots of fun Ivo, well done!

Subhan has been doing loads of writing work today, well done! He wrote his diary telling me his news, found some verbs, adjectives and nouns in a book (one of the learning tasks on your grid) and practiced writing the letter  b and B. He also completed his week 1 wellness tracker, great job!

Received my first photos from Mariam this week – these lovely photos of her with her little sister. I spied a Disney quote on your pjs which I love 🙂 Thanks for sending photos Mariam, I have given you a point!

Hector has had a very busy day! He was doing some yoga, adding HTU, built a Lego house, learned about farming turmeric and cucumbers and wrote some sentences about what he learned and did some more geography playing where in the world. Well done Hector, I particularly liked your sentences you wrote to record your learning 🙂 He also sent a photo of some very cool science he did at the weekend testing the flammability of liquids.

Kit did his reading this morning followed by some more multiplying and then wrote his news this afternoon in his home school diary. Well done following your normal daily timetable again, Kit! He also completed his wellness tracker for last week and sent some photos of 2 very sunny bike rides to the park one on Saturday and one on Sunday 🙂

Home School Day 6

Welcome to week 2 of home school! It is also our last week of school before our 2 week Easter holiday 🙂

Here is your day 6 home school video –

https://youtu.be/7209GyjtVB8

We love music in Class 2 so today I have gone over the task on your home learning grid that is having a go at leaning the words to a song that you like or try writing your own.

I made a little video with a few example songs for you. You can just learn part of the song and the song doesn’t have to be in English. You may spot a familiar Gaelic song those of you who were in my class last year 🙂

https://youtu.be/XHEBNatY6z4

Looking forward to receiving your photos and videos today, I have missed them over the weekend!

Day 5 work

#hug

Delighted that some of you took part in the task of hugging the people you are staying safe in your house with. These photos really made me smile so thank you. You can all have a point 🙂

(Sorry Mrs Crosbie and Mrs Bennett you’re not on the points chat but thanks SO much for your photos with your sons and husband!)

Your work today

I was very excited to get the first photos of Ivo’s work this week! He has been doing some beautiful mindful colouring of all things police and made a lovely rainbow with his mum to put in his window from Monday’s task. Great job, Ivo 🙂

Subhan doing some funny poses to make us all smile, what a great friend you are, Subhan 🙂 He also worked on some addition, phonics, his wellness diary and made this lovely picture for everyone in Class 2  to say he is missing us all <3

Kayden also sent his first picture of work to me today. He had been working on creating this very cool Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, well done!

Aiyub completed one of the tasks from the grid today and did some research about slavery then noted down his findings and drew some pictures. He also completed his phonics alternative spellings workbook, well done!

Hector relaxing doing some mindful colouring, something I love to do too! He also did some maths on Sumdog and some drawing today, well done.

Kit started his day with some energetic exercise for Health and Wellbeing, then created some eerie music suitable for the scary parts in a movie. He then helped out making cakes with Freddie for his Home Economics work and for clubs decided to complete the rainbow task set on Monday along with a very cool Egyptian temple.

Points

I am so proud of you all for coping so well with what has been such an unusual week and so pleased we have a points chart for home school so I can reward you for all your fab work!

The Sumdog winners were…… Hector for most time on Sumdog and Bilal for most correct answers. Well done boys!

I have recorded a little video of me giving out these points and lots of others –

Here is a photo of the points chart at the end of Friday 🙂

Home School Day 5

Happy Friday! (A very big well done to all the parents for making it to the end of week 1 of home school!)

Here is your Friday video message from Miss Hewitt –

Messages from friends

My Friday treat is wearing the new pyjamas I ordered myself this week ALL day 🙂 But as a treat for you I have  messages from some people I’m sure you have been missing this week!

Mrs Crosbie sent you a video message and a selfie –

Mrs Bennett sent you a photo and a message –

Hi kids, hope you are all well Class 2. I’m good and as you can see, keeping safe xxx

Remember to keep checking the blog comments for messages from your friends and the adults in St Albert’s too. Hector and Kit both left messages on yesterday’s posts for you. Thank you boys!

#hug

The task I set for today (optional as always) is for you to take a photo of you hugging a person or the people in your house who you are isolating with.

Here is my picture hugging Murdo (he cannot have a pyjama day as he has lots of video meetings with his work today!)

I will share all your hug pictures at the end of the day 🙂

Points chart

Today is your last day this week to earn points on the new home school points chart!

Remember to log into Sumdog and answer a few questions and I’ll award a point later for most Sumdog time for this week.

You all got a point for speaking with me on FaceTime this week for cheering me up so much, and I have also given a point to everyone who has sent me photos or videos of their work.

Subhan, Kit and Hector got some other points for completing challenges set in the daily blog posts (Subhan for guessing the correct book, Kit for the best PATHS picture and Hector for being the first child in Class 2 to leave a comment for his friends on the blog).

This is how the points chart looks just now but it will look different by the end of the day with lots of points still to add 🙂

Friday clubs

As Friday is normally clubs day when you a do lots of different things, I wanted to post a selection of fun things that you may be able to do at home, either today or even over the weekend if you decide on a cosy PJ day today 🙂

Art – I chose some different art activities as I know you all love Art when we do it in school.

I know lots of you have Lego at home and thought this looked like a fun idea. I’m a little jealous I don’t have any Lego in my house to try this!

We all made our own DIY paintbrushes in Class 2 with twigs, leaves and grass from outside earlier this year. Why not have a go at making a paintbrush for some things you find in your house?

Cooking – Mrs Creevy recorded a video showing you how to make some delicious treats, yum! You will need an adult to help you with this activity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXjCgo80jiw

Art/Science – Miss Milne recorded a video showing you how to make your own paint from things you can find in the house, how cool!

Loads of things to choose from today! I can’t wait to see what you get up to 🙂

Social stories on being in lock down & social distancing

Quite a lot of people are finding this week difficult, being on lock-down and having to stay inside to keep safe for the majority of time.

This is different to what we are used to and may make you feel annoyed sometimes and that’s ok, but remember this is not forever and it is only to keep us all safe.

Here is a useful social story about the current situation and it has the important reminder that it won’t be like this for ever and things will go back to normal soon –

Social-Distancing-Story-2-2

Here is a children’s video story about how we can’t have play dates with friends or visit grandparents just now but how the heroes are fighting to keep us all safe so this will be over soon –

Day 4 work

Another busy day of working at home and calling those of you who I never spoke to yesterday. Again though, I was SO excited speaking to you all that I forgot pictures 🙁

Big well done to Kit and his mum for reminding me this morning, we took this fabulous screen shot selfie 🙂 My target for next week is to be better at remembering photos with you!

Your work

Today’s home school post had a fitness focus and you sent me lots of great evidence of you exercising along with all your other work so well done!

Extra thanks to those of you who sent me videos, I really loved them and have made a compilation video of all your great ways of keeping fit during lockdown 🙂

https://youtu.be/XkrSgU8NO4c

Here are photos of your other work from today-

Subhan was creating loads of fantastic yoga poses! He also did one of his reading comprehension tasks which was related to our topic. I’m so impressed with your answers Subhan, this was a very challenging text, you did a really fab job 🙂 He completed his subtraction sums sheet and his wellness tracker too.

Aiyub worked on some yoga to get some exercise and more phonics today. Good job Aiyub 🙂

Kit worked hard on his reading this morning with a text that had some challenging words, then practised his trickier times tables for maths. Well done challenging yourself Kit! He also did some very active exercise on his trampoline, so fast that he’s blurry!

Hector did some reading today from this very interesting looking book about Benedict Arnold, a famous soldier, and followed a drawing tutorial with his family

Points

Well done to Hector who correctly answered all 5 yoga poses Miss Hewitt was doing in the photos. You have been awarded a point!

The poses were – down dog, bridge pose, tree pose, warrior and, my favourite, child’s pose 🙂

I will post an updated points chart tomorrow after 3.00 once I have given out all the other points or the week for fabulous work, there are 11 I have noted down already!!

Home School Day 4

Good morning!

Here is your morning message for day 4 of school at home.
I have focussed on fitness today as it’s so important to be keeping active in the house or if you’re able to get out for a walk or some exercise in the fresh air.

https://youtu.be/F2Xn9XE8OOo

Here are some photos of me doing a bit of yoga yesterday. Can you tell me the names of the poses I am doing in each photo? Point if you get all the names correct 🙂
