Cricket Festival

Well done to everybody who took part in the Cricket Festival this year at Clydesdale Cricket Club.
You all worked very hard on the day and had lots of fun.

How good does Yahya look in his cricket kit?

Digital Learning Week πŸ“±πŸ–₯

We had an amazing week for digital learning week. Β There were lots of opportunities for new learning in school and sharing our learning.

We were asked to work with Primary 3 and teach them some of the digital skills we know. Β We decided to teach them how to log in on the desktop computer and how to carry out some tasks on the computer. Β This was our plan for what we were going to teach:

We had lots of fun teaching the Primary 3 children but it was hard work because they didn’t always listen to us. Β Is this how it feels to be a teacher?? 🧐🀭

We also taught the children in Primary 3 about coding. Β This was so funny because we had to tell them what to do and they had to follow the instructions completely.

A group of us also went to the Apple Store in town. Β We travelled on the subway which was handy because the Apple Store is just a short walk from Buchanan Street Subway Station.

When we arrived at the Apple Store, we met Jay and Laura who were leading our session that day. Β They told us a bit about themselves and told us what their favourite app was.

We then told them what we know about the β€˜clips’ app and they were so impressed. Β After that, we learned about Zach King. Β Zach King is famous for creating videos and making things disappear and appear in new settings. Β His videos are so cool. Β You can watch them on YouTube.

We split into groups to come up with ideas for our own films. Β Jay told us we could transport people from one setting to another.

Once we had came up with our ideas, we started filming. Β It was good to get some time to explore the clips app. Β We learned how to use lots of the different parts of the app.

Some groups filmed part of their clip outside so that it would look like they started the filming inside and then magically transported outside.

It was really hard to do but the good thing about his app is that you can delete any scenes that have went wrong. Β It was sooooo funny when things were going wrong time and time again.

After this, we showed all of the videos on the screen in the Apple Store. Β It was fun to watch the other group’s films and see what they had done. Β This app makes scenes look like magic.

Our trip to the Apple Store was so much fun and we learned lots. Β We will definitely be back.
As a treat when we were heading back to school, we got ice-lollies as it was scorching and we were roasting!! Β We ate them on the stairs at The Royal Concert Hall. Β On the way back to school, we had a play in the park too.
What a great day out β˜ΊπŸ’œ

Lastly, we made a film using the β€˜Clips’ app. Β We learned how to insert videos and pictures using this app and how to add in emojis and labels πŸ˜œπŸ€©πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜ŽπŸ›πŸ‘πŸΌ Β Here’s the film we created –

Bug Hunting πŸžπŸ›πŸ¦‹πŸŒ

This week we went on a bug hunt with nursery children from both nurseries in Pollokshields. Β We are getting to know these children as they will be our new Primary 1s in August and we will be their P7 buddies.

We used magnifying glasses to help us identify different bugs. Β It was fun to get to know the nursery children and they were VERY CUTE!!

Crazy Hair Day πŸ₯³πŸ€ͺ

During Ramadan, our class are organising fundraisers to raise money for the charity Human Appeal.

Human Appeal is a charity which helps people who are living in poverty. Β Any money we raise from our fundraisers will go to this fantastic charity so please support our fundraisers and donate any money you can.

The first fundraiser we organised was Crazy Hair Day which took place today. Β Crazy Hair Day is so much fun because people spraypaint their hair different colours, put coloured gel in their hair, put glitter in their hair, spike their hair up and put lots of bobbles in their hair.

Here are some of our crazy hairstyles …

Obstacle Course Fun πŸ€ͺπŸ˜„

Mrs Ahmed set up an obstacle course for us as part of our PE.

The obstacle course involved us running, jumping, changing direction and doing star jumps. Β It was hard work!!

We split up into 2 teams and the winning team was the team to have all its members finished first.

Things got pretty heated as we all wanted to win so much. Β It’s good to be competitive!!

Advertising for The Southside Fringe 🎀🌸

The Southside Fringe is taking place again this year near our school. Β It begins on the 11th May and lasts for 16 days.

Some of the children in our school are part of the parade and are performing at the festival. Β We are all very excited.

We decided to advertise the event by creating posters for it. Β We know that we event posters must have relevant information on them like what is happening at the event, where it is and when it is. Β We’ve made sure to include all of these details and had fun being creative at the same time.

If you can make it along to The Southside Fringe, we would love to see you there.
