Scottish Ballet πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ

We were lucky enough to have sessions with The Scottish Ballet which was so much fun.

We learned how to move our bodies in different ways and discovered new moves.

When creating a dance, you can perform moves at different levels like up high or down low on the ground.

It’s so much fun being able to express ourselves through dance.

We worked in pairs to draw a human template of one another which we then filled with facts about ourselves. It was interesting to see the differences between us all.

We had live music while we worked and the pace of the music told us the pace we should be working at. When the music got fast, we knew we didn’t have long left and we had to finish what we were doing quickly.

It’s amazing the shapes and movements you can make with other people …

Presenting skills – analysing Oranges in No Man’s Land 😎😎

As part of our Talking and Listening assessment, we presented our work to the class.

We worked in groups to analyse characters, setting and plot from the book, Oranges in No Man’s Land.

Our group was analysing Ayesha and because she is the main character in the book, it was easy to analyse her because we knew lots about her. – Zaynab

It was hard working in a group because we had to make sure we weren’t repeating each other all the time. – Sarmud

Analysing the Granny was hard because she wasn’t mentioned that much in the book so we had to think of the qualities our own gran has and transfer these into our work. – Zack

I thought it was hard to analyse Ayesha at the start of the story because we read it a while ago. – Zain

It was hard to present our work in front of everyone because we hadn’t learned it off by heart and so had to read from the sheet which meant we weren’t looking at the audience when we were presenting. – Jazil

It was difficult to present the plot because we had to summarise the story in order which was hard and we had to think carefully about the order of events. – Zoha

Multiplication Obstacle Course πŸ€“ 😎

To finish off a fun-filled outdoor learning week, Miss McCue challenged us to complete an obstacle course and then answer multiplication sums at the end. The first person to get the multiplication correct, Β won a point for their team.Β

It got pretty heated and the competitiveness was blooming!!Β

This is a great way to get fit and practise our times tables at the same time.

In the end, Teams 4 and 5 both had 9 points so it went to sudden death. Mujtaba competed against Abrahim and Abrahim came out victorious!!

Well done Team 5 πŸ€©πŸŽ‰

Diggers, transporters, painters and happy children πŸ’œπŸ’œ

We worked with our friends in Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 to prepare for building a tyre mural in the upper playground.

Some of us recycled soil from the school grounds by digging it up with shovels and forks.

Once the soil was dug up, we transferred it into bags and wheelbarrows and the transporters worked hard to take it from the soil patch to the grassy area in the upper playground.

In the upper playground, Β the team of artists designed and painted our recycled tyres. They look amazing!!

What a great afternoon, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work!!Β

Watch this space for the end product of all our hard work!!Β

Geocaching at Queens Park β¬†οΈβ¬‡οΈβ¬…οΈβž‘οΈ

We went on a trip to Queens Park to go geocaching. It was so much fun!!Β

We used our mobiles to download the geocache app and use this to find geocache prizes.Β

We had to follow directions and hunt for the geocache locations.Β

Yayyy we found a geocache and signed the sheet to say we were successful!!Β

Geocaching is so much fun and anybody can do it. The app is easy to use too.Β

We couldn’t walk past the outdoor gym without pumping some iron.Β

We ended our trip with fun times playing Β in the park.Β

P6’s Creature Hunt πŸ•·πŸ›πŸžπŸ

We hunted our school grounds for different creatures.Β

We used magnifying apparatus and other tools to help us find all sorts of spiders, caterpillars and bees. Safa and Hiba even found a very rare bee!!Β

Eishah notes down all of the creatures we found using tally marks and we will transfer this data into a table.Β

Human Battleships 🚒🚒

Today we took our maths outside and used our coordinates knowledge to create a grid to play battleships.Β

We drew our grid on the ground with chalk and then competed against our partner to play human battleships.Β

It was lots of fun and we were able to show off our knowledge of coordinates.Β

Outdoor Maths β•οΈπŸ›‘

Today was the start of Outdoor Learning Week and we began by learning about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.Β

We then worked in groups to create 2D and 3D shapes using materials we found outside like tyres, leaves, sticks, conkers and logs.Β

It was so much fun and some of us made shapes using our bodies!Β

Saad even managed to grow a tail!Β

Tiger Tales at The Platform 🐯⭐️

We were lucky enough to be invited over to The Platform at Easterhouse to watch the play, Tiger Tales.

It was a silent play and the story was told through dance.

We all had the chance to go in and explore the space when the play was finished. It was so much fun! Everyone was throwing balls about everywhere and dancing.Β

Vince lifted Zain up!! He’s super strong.

Having fun Hamza??Β

When we got back to school, the massive tree in our playground had been blown over in the storm. That was some fierce wind!!Β
