Christmas Jumper Day 🎄❤️

We had fun during Christmas Jumper day on Friday 14th of December.

Wearing our Christmas jumpers definitely put us in the Christmas spirit.

Zain and Saad made their own amazing Christmas jumpers. Zain’s little brother had a homemade Jumper on too.  They both had created a human advent calendar with real chocolates behind every door – yummy!!

Some more of us came in wearing our cosy Christmas jumpers.

Miss McCue and Miss Kinloch even wore their Christmas jumpers!

Gender storytelling!!

Ben and Shona came in to teach us some more about gender.

We worked in groups to create shapes of palaces and animals protecting our palaces.

Then we split up into boys and girls and explored historical stories. We found it easier to work with people who are the same gender as us. Why do you think this is?

Braveheart: The Drama for Scottish Independence 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

As part of our learning this term, we have learned about the Scottish Wars of Independence.

During these wars, Scotland and England battled against each other as Scotland wanted to be an independent country.

For our art installation, we created a drama of the wars and acted out a scene from the film Braveheart.

We had William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and their Scottish army vs King Edward and his English army!!

We also had narrators and we all sang the song ‘Caledonia’ together.

for the installation, we made our own armour, shields and weapons for the drama.

Fun at the Christmas Fayre 🎉🎄

We put our money handling skills into good use at our Christmas Fayre.

We set up a stall selling our framed photographs which we made using the green screen.

Our other stalls sold bubble wands and we had fun running a chocolate tombola.

Zack and Laiyba took pictures of the younger kids visiting Santa and his elfs!

The Christmas Show at The Science Centre 🔬🎄

We went on another fantastic trip to The Science Centre to see their Christmas show.

The scientist there showed us lots of cool experiments and taught us how gravity works.

We learned about methane gas and how this is used to power Santa’s sleigh!!

We also learned how chemicals can be used to create light.

After the Christmas Show, we were allowed to play and explore the Science Centre. There are so many cool things in there. We had lots of fun!

Miss Rizwan even took a lesson and taught us all about science!

A Christmas Carol @ The Tramway 🎄🌟

We were lucky enough to be invited to a play at The Tramway.

It was a play about The Christmas Carol and was absolutely fantastic!!

The set, the props and the acting were brilliant. We all rated it 5 out of 5 stars!! It really got us into the Christmas spirit.

Primary 7’s assembly 🙌🏼❤️

Primary 7 put on an amazing show of learning during their class assembly.

They taught us about the issue of homelessness and we learned many statistics about homelessness in our society today.

It is truly shocking that people are living on the street. We are so proud of Miss Cohen and Primary 7 for raising awareness of homelessness.

Males and Females – are they equal??

Today we took part in discussions and activities around gender equality.

Ben came in to help us think about male and female and what we think these mean.

It was interesting to see what others thought and this has made us go away and think more about our own beliefs.

We talked about things like what colours are associated with males and females and if there are certain jobs that only males should do and certain jobs that only females should do.

What do you think?

Should men and women be treated equally?

Finding the area in freezing temperatures ❄️❄️

We love learning about Maths outdoors.

We worked in pairs to find the area of objects in the infant playground.

Even though it was freezing, we still had fun using the trundle wheels and metre sticks.

To find the area of a rectangle, you measure the length and the breadth of a shape and then multiply them together. We know the formula is

A = L x B
