Weekly Update – 9 June 2025

The weather is very changeable please send your child to school with a coat every day.

P5-7 Endurance Race – the children completed the final event from sports day at the Common on Friday 6th June.  Everyone had a go and ran their own race – we were proud of all of them!  Below are each year group’s first, second and third place.  The fastest boy and girl will be announced at our end of year celebration on Thursday 3rd July.

Sharing Our Learning EventFriday 13th June – everyone who booked a time slot to visit our Tayport then, now and next showcase should have received an email confirmation.  Please phone the school office if you have any issues.

Staffing changes – Miss Trewartha has successfully gained a voluntary transfer to another Fife school.  She will be joining them from August 2025.  We thank Miss Trewartha for all her hard work at Tayport PS – she will be missed!  Please note that our full staffing is still to be confirmed for after summer so we cannot yet allocate teachers to classes.  We are still in the process of structuring our classes – we assume all current P1-6 pupils are returning after summer – if this is not the case please let us know as soon as possible.

Tempest Class Group Photos – keep an eye on your inbox as a link to the class photos, taken last week, will be sent to you by tomorrow.

Weekly Update – 26 May 2025

The P7 pupils extend a warm thank you for supporting their bake sale on Friday.  It was a huge success and will cover the cost of the bus and a treat on their big day out!

Sports day – Friday 30th May – General information:

  • Thank you to those who have already volunteered to support walking to and from the sports ground.  Contact the parent council or phone the school office if you can help.
  • P1-3 must be on the way from school to the sports ground by 9:15am latest.  Any pupils who are late in arriving will need to walk down with older classes [and may miss their races].  It would be very helpful if parents/carers pre-ordered school lunches.
  • We hope to commence P1-3 races at 9:30 am.
  • Parents/carers can spectate from behind the barrier around the football ground.  Classes will be seated within the barrier and children must remain with their class at all times.
  • Please note:
    • All children should bring a full water bottle.
    • A fruit snack of an apple or banana will be provided by the Parent Council.  Children have pre-ordered their preference. No other snacks should be brought.
    • Apply sunscreen in the morning before school and provide a sun hat.
    • If possible, children should wear their house colour.  Morton – blue, Scotscraig – green, Kinshaldy – yellow.
    • P1-3 pupils will return to school after their races and snacks [approx 10:30am].

We are looking forward to a great morning of participation and everyone having a good time!

Parent Council Meeting – Monday 19th May at 6 pm at Tayport Primary School.  Please notify the Parent Council chair, in advance, if you wish to raise any issues: details here.

Headlice – again this term we have had cases of headlice reported.  Regular checking of children’s heads is important, but it is a parental responsibility.    Please note:

  • Anyone with hair can catch head lice, meaning that the problem, whilst often more prevalent in children, is not unique to them.
  • Insecticide treatment should never be used as a preventative measure as the use of insecticidal products on a regular basis may result in insecticidal resistance. Insecticide lotions should only be used when a living louse has been found on the head.  NHS advice.
