Weekly Update – 22 April 2024

A massive THANK YOU to our Tayport community for collecting the “Pounds for Primaries” tokens that resulted in us winning £1000!  The Courier and TSPC visited us on Friday with the surprise announcement.  P2/3 and Miss Trewartha gratefully accepted the cheque:  click here to see online.

Learning overviews – to support you in talking about learning at home each term teachers share the planned class learning for the term via our learning overviews.  We store these on our website and you should also receive a copy via Seesaw\Glow teams too– please click here to access P1-7 learning overviews. 

Homework – all class teachers issue weekly homework (with some tasks being optional).  Please encourage your child to fully engage with this and try to get homework returned on the agreed day.

Wider Achievement News – please remember to email class teachers with any out of school achievements.  Teachers email addresses are on the learning overviews.

World of Work week 20-24 May – We are still seeking parent/carer volunteers to share information about their jobs during our careers week.  So far we have 3 volunteers – thank you – but we need more! click here to complete this short form to register your availability.

Weekly Update – 15 April 2024

I am very happy to be back at Tayport for what is going to be a busy and exciting term.  It has been lovely to catch up with the children and hear about what has been going on while I was at Leuchars.  Just in case you missed the sharing our learning Sway here is the link again:  term 3 sharing our learning,

As we begin a new term here are a few general reminders:

  • If your child is absent from school please notify the school office as soon as possible.
  • School uniform should be worn daily.
  • On gym days plain t-shirts and school jumpers should be worn. Football tops are not allowed at any time.
  • Please no make up or fake nails.
  • Phones must be switch off on arrival at school and handed in to office at 9am, to be collected at 3 pm.
  • Footballs should not be brought to school. It is not safe to play football before 9am or after 3 pm in our playground.

  • P1-3 – Shared Finishes – 22, 24 and 26 April – 2:30 – 3pm.
  • School closed for May bank holiday – 6 May.
  • Inservice day – school closed to pupils – 9 May.
  • Rights Respecting Schools Silver Accreditation Visit – 15 May
  • Reading Café 5 date change – now happening 21 May (9:30-10:15) – invitations will be sent out shortly

Weekly Update – 22 January 2024

Mobile phones – please remind your child that if they bring a phone/ mobile device to school it must be switched off as soon as they enter the playground and then handed in to either the office or teacher at the beginning of the school day.  Similarly at the end of the day phones must be kept off until children are off school property.  There should be absolutely no videoing of people on the playground at any time.  We have digital parenting advice for families on our website: click here

Parent Council Chat – we are hosting a very informal parent council coffee and chat on Tuesday 30 January 2:15 – 3pm in the View.  This  is an opportunity for anyone interested in supporting parental involvement in our school.

Weekly Update – 8 January 2024

Reporting school absence – if your child is absent from school for any reason it is vital you notify us immediately.  You can do this by: telephoning the school office, send a text to groupcall (07860004846), send a message via the Parents’ Portal or email tayportps.enquiries@fife.gov.uk.  Do not report absences via Seesaw.   If the absence is due to illness please keep school updated.

School Uniform – as we start back to a new term a return to school uniform is appreciated. Please note that on gym days a school jumper in red or black (or leavers’ hoodie for P7) should be worn on top of a plain gym kit.  There should be no football tops and girls should wear plain t-shirts not vests or cropped tops.  Fake nails are unsafe and should not be worn to school.  We would appreciate if wearing make-up is kept for out of school.

Scot Poetry focus – it Is time for our annual Scots poetry learning and presenting.  We are looking for 100% participation in this experience and all children having a go.

School Volunteers – if you are interested in volunteering in school information on how to do so will be shared next week.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the STEM Santa Sleigh Challenge.  Winners were chosen by the STEM MAD group in two age categories and announced at the Christmas Cheer service today. They will all enjoy a hot chocolate with Mrs Tweed tomorrow as well as a number of house points being awarded.  Please collect sleighs today or by end of tomorrow latest (a number of sleighs had no names on them ..)

Christmas Countdown reminders for this week:

Christmas Raffle – please return raffle ticket money as soon as possible.  All proceeds are being used to help cover the cost of class parties. The raffle will be drawn in school on Friday 15th December.

Monday 11th December – 7pm – Auld Kirk Christmas Carol concert. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances the school choir will not be performing this year.

Tuesday 12th December 9:30-10:15 – Reading Café 2 in small hall – for Community Champion and Green Team MAD group pupils only.

Wednesday 13th December – P1-7 School Christmas lunch. Please pre-order today or Tuesday.

Wednesday 13th December – P1 and P2 Nativity “The very hopeless camel” for Families – 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Cash donations at the door.

Thursday 14th December – Whole school Christmas Jumper or Accessories Day.  Term 2’s Special TRACK awards at Learn to Learn.

(Children can change into party clothes in the afternoon).

Para-sports event – This day will allow young people from mainstream schooling with either a physical, hearing or visual impairment to access and try multiple different sporting activities, such as swimming, boccia, cricket, bowls and many many more! Weekly Update – 4 December 2023

Thank you – our Community Champions were over the moon to present Tayport’s donations to the NE Fife Toydrive.  Thank you for supporting this:

A small Christmas Raffle, to cover the cost of children’s Christmas parties, is being run this week and next with the drawn in school on Friday 15th December.  Expect tickets home in schoolbags early this week.

Weekly Update – 20 November 2023

Thank you for your support in raising £120 for Children in Need on Friday.  Lots of crazy hair!

Anti-bullying fortnight continues this week.  We have been making a lot of noise about bullying and talking opening about how it feels and how we stop it.

Please send in Panto money ASAP.

P1 parents at the 9am bell we request that you do not stand in the line with your child.  Please drop off and step back.

Reminders:

  • all children need a coat every day.
  • there should be no nuts for snacks and lunches. We have children in school with severe nut allergies.
