Room 9 – Primary 5

Working hard is important, but there’s something that matters even more: believing in yourself.

-Harry Potter
Welcome to Primary 5!
We have had a busy start to Primary 5.
*P.E. takes place on Wednesday (Hockey). and a Thursday – Fitness.
Outdoor learning is on a Wednesday.
In Literacy, our class novel is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We have been using the novel to identify and generate adjectives and similes. We have been incorporating this into our descriptive and imaginative pieces of writing.
We are in the process of turning the outside of our classroom into Diagon Alley!
In Numeracy, we have been revising the four number processes (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and we have been learning about place value.
Our topic maths is Time – we will be looking at timetables and converting to 24 hour time.

Our IDL theme is UK transport and the Levenmouth Railway. We have identified different types of transport in the UK and researched The Flying Scotsman and London Underground. We will also learn about The Red Arrows.
