Hello everyone, we are Primary 7 and our teacher is Miss Wood!

We have really enjoyed settling into our new classroom and discussing all things Primary 7!

Here are our focuses for Term 1:

In IDL we are focusing on Renewable Energy.  This topic is giving us lots of discussion around sustainable energy use and linking to the Sustainable Development Goal 7.  We are excited to take part in different experiments and STEM based challenges and workshops.  Luckily, we are able to link with Bright Green Hydrogen based in Methil where we can see our topic being used in real life.

In Numeracy we are learning about place value and the 4 operations and the many different strategies we can use to answer questions.  We will also be having a big focus around word problems and thinking about what the question is asking us to do.  In Maths, we are looking at measure and we are loving the hands on activities which link closely to our class novel – Holes.

Our Literacy focus this term is based around our class novel – Holes which we are loving.  We are looking at the different characters and setting descriptions which tie in nicely to our Writing focus.  We are also starting to look at the different types of comprehension questions and how each one should be answered.  This will be a focus for our whole year.

For our Health and Wellbeing focus we have been using the Emotion Works storyboard models to pick out scenarios from our novel.  This has helped us to create a wide range of emotional-based vocabulary.  We will also be thinking about our own emotions and what can trigger us (using Cog 7).

Our gym days are Wednesday and Friday.

Our outdoor learning day is Thursday – when we start to go out and about we will be looking for parental helpers – any help is welcome!
