Welcome to the P5 page!  There are currently 32 pupils in our class.

Our Classroom

To ensure adequate ventilation in our classroom, I will open windows regularly.  Please make sure your child dresses appropriately as the classroom may, at times, be cooler!

Gym – Term 1

Gym is back to being on                             .  Please make sure your child wears gym clothes to school on Thursdays and brings a suitable hoodie / coat, in case we plan to be outside!

Topic

Our topic in Term 1 is ___________!  We are reading parts of the  book,                      and will be looking at topics such as                                     .

Homework

Homework will be issued on a Wednesday and should be done by the next Monday.  Homework to be done will be uploaded to this website.   There will be a mixture of language, maths and other tasks linked to, for example, Topic, French or Health.  These will consolidate our learning in class.

Reading will usually be issued on the Monday, to be done for the next Monday.   Please take time to read with your child and encourage good pace and expression, as well as helping them with any difficult vocabulary or punctuation.  Please sign their Reading Record, so I can track that children are doing their reading.

Weekly Homework –

Wednesday

*Literacy

1.Reading pages – these were issued on Monday and written in your Reading Record. Try to get a parent to hear at least part of your reading. Concentrate on expression, pace and noticing the punctuation.  Ask a parent to sign your Reading Record.

Please make sure your reading book is brought in every Monday so I can hear you read on Monday or Tuesday.

REMEMBER Reading for Pleasure! – keep reading for enjoyment, as well as just doing your homework reading.  Try to read a book of your choice for at least 10 mins every night.  Be ready to tell me what you are reading and whether you would recommend it to your classmates.  Happy reading!

  1. Spelling – we do spelling every Friday. Try to practise these words at home and learn them using the methods stated on the document below.

IMPORTANT : Accessing Glow and Teams

We need to practise accessing Glow and Teams at home, in case we need to learn at home in the event of strikes or snow days.  I have given your child a sheet (their username and passwords included) to help you get into Glow and then click on the Teams tile.  Teams is a means of us communicating with each other and is also the way we would do video calls.   I have been practising this in class in our ICT on Fridays.  I will go over this again on Friday 22nd September.  Please work with your child to practise doing this at home.
