Masterton Primary School

P7

Welcome to our Primary 7 Page

We have 33 pupils in our class. Mrs Colburn and Miss Collins are our teachers.

Mrs Colburn’s days are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (after break) and Fridays.

Miss Collins’ days are: Wednesdays and Thursdays (before break).

Our PE days will be Thursdays (in the big hall) and Fridays (outdoors). Please come dressed in appropriate kit on PE days.

Across all our learning, we will frequently be working outdoors. When we are in the classroom, windows and doors will be open. Please have warm, appropriate clothing so we can get on with focusing on learning no matter where we are.

Brass Instrument Instruction

Mrs Dowall will continue to come into Masterton on Friday mornings to teach brass instruments to some P7 pupils.

P7 Show!

The Primary 7s have been hard at work developing and writing the P7 show, and we are intending to audition roles over the coming week. Pupils should work with another pupil to learn both parts of each of the extracts attached here: Audition Script

Auditions will take place on  Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd April, and we will be looking for expression, clarity, acting and memorised lines!

P7 Personal Project

You have each been given a paper copy of your Personal Project guidelines. A digital copy is attached here:

P7 Our Home, Our Planet Personal Project Guidelines

You have 7 weeks to create your project. Please remember everything we discussed about the importance of taking responsibility and managing your time well. You will be given time in class to write your project but please allow yourself time for research and making notes at home. Your project should be handed in by the end of the 7th week, with the deadline being Friday 7th June. This will give us time to read through each project and give you feedback before the end of term.

Reading Homework:

This term we are working together in class on our novel study. Our text is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. You may take your school copy of the novel home to re-read chapters or even read ahead but you MUST have your novel in class every day. I will let you know which chapter to focus on prior to comprehension activities. As with all homework, it is your responsibility to take note of this information. You can write any notes in your reading record.

Remember to keep updating your reading for pleasure record at the back of your reading record.

Maths Homework:

April-June:

In class we are working on fractions, decimals (including money) and percentages. We will be finding equivalent fractions, comparing, ordering, adding and subtracting fractions. Some of you will also be multiplying and dividing decimals. It will be very helpful to you to have a strong knowledge of your multiplication and division facts, so please keep working on memorising your times tables at home.
