Every year in May all the pupils in the school participate in the Masterton Mile. This is a race involving 4 laps of the school which is approximately 1 mile. The pupils train for a number of weeks leading up to the race and challenge themselves to improve their best times. Although the race is competitive it is up to the pupils to challenge themselves. The race is usually a sponsor to raise money for the school funds which is them used to purchase equipment for the school. For example in the past the money raised help fund the installation of a wireless network across the school.

In 2020 during the first lockdown and with the school closed the community of Masterton took part in the Masterton Mile during their daily exercise. In 2021 the Masterton Mile should take place although it is likely to be without parents in the playground.
