Learning for Sustainability at Carnegie

What is Sustainability and what does it mean to be more sustainable?

Check out this Sketchnote that shows all aspects of Sustainability. Children and staff have explored the visual to help us identify what are we already doing at Carnegie and what are our next steps to be more sustainable. Click on the link to access the Education Scotland website to find out more.

Meet our Sustainability Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors have a very important role:

  • helping us to take care of the school
  • our voice for all of the children at Carnegie – they listen!
  • sharing with everyone what we need to do to be more sustainable – our action plan.

Here are some photos and slide of  what we are doing across classes to be more sustainable.

At Carnegie, we are focusing on Sustainability across three themes – Curriculum – what we learn, how global issues affect us.

Campus – using our outdoor spaces and improving our playground.

Community – working with our local businesses, such as Amazon and B&Q, and getting our families involved to develop healthy habits.

In classes and at Huddles we have been focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals. We are all working towards a more sustainable Carnegie and our world by 2030.

We want our families to get involved! Here is a family challenge created by our Sustainability Ambassadors. Check out the poster below which will be a focus across the month of September. Our Ambassadors will be back in touch soon for another challenge for October.
