Digital Literacy

Our Digital Leaders

At Carnegie Primary School, we have a super team of ten Digital Leaders. Digital Leaders are children with a natural interest in technology who want to share their knowledge with others and support the ways in which we use digital technology to improve learning across the school.

Being a Digital Leader is a great opportunity to take on responsibility, learn new skills, develop and demonstrate leadership skills.

What our Digital Leaders do

Some of the tasks that our digital leaders are responsible for include:

· Helping staff get computing equipment ready and organised (charging and logging-on laptops and iPads)

· Keeping laptop trolleys neat and tidy, ensuring laptops are plugged in and charged ready for each class to use

· Demonstrating how to access and use programs and apps using Glow (e.g. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint)

· Trying out and review new apps, websites and programs which could be used in lessons

· Demonstrating new technology in the classroom

And this year, we’ll be helping the school to achieve the Digital Schools Award.

Digital Schools Award

We are very excited to be on our Digital Schools Award Scotland journey.

What is The Digital Schools Award?

It is a national award to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology. Schools that complete this programme will receive a nationally recognised Digital Schools Award accredited by Education Scotland.

Look out for more updates as we continue our learning and progress to achieve the Award.

Why did our Digital Leaders want to join the group?

Nate – I enjoy using computers and helping other classes learn

Myla – I wanted to learn more about coding

Emily – I wanted to help the school learn about digital technology.

Aisha – I joined digital leaders because it would be fun and you can learn a lot.
