A creative toolbox for augmented reality. Sketch, scan, and snap the world around you to transform your creations from 2D to 3D virtual objects.
What does it do?
AR Makr is an iPad app that lets learners create virtual objects using drawing and photo and allows users to place these objects into the world around them. It is a fun and easy way to begin exploring the world of augmented reality. You can learn more about augmented reality here.
Why is it useful?
There are lots of potential uses for AR Makr, from ordering the planets in your playground to creating your own personal library shelves in class – the only limit is imagination. The AR Makr app comes with built in photo and video options which makes it easy for learners to share their creations and showcase their knowledge, understanding, explanations and details related to their AR work!
How does it work?
The YouTube video below gives a quick introduction to AR Makr.

Primary 5a were introduced to AR Makr. This is a creative toolbox for augmented reality. We sketched and transformed our creations from 2D to 3D virtual objects and had so much fun watching them come to life 🌏🟩🔺👾🌞 @DigiLearnScot @Schools_Digital @DL_for_All #ARMakr pic.twitter.com/tPOmUVKUdr

This week we’ll be exploring the names and properties of 2D and 3D shape using Augmented Reality. Using AR MAKR, we’re going to use different 3D shapes to design our pumpkins (sure they don’t have to be spheres!) and then add 2D shapes to decorate them. pic.twitter.com/8R3hCVQx3S

Today we are having fun making virtual timelines for inspirational leaders. Thanks @PaulHamilton8 for the idea. I practised in my garden beforehand! We started in Keynote then moved to AR Makr. @AppleEDU @ARMakrApp pic.twitter.com/gZjxUjpJ9f

We kicked off our #TCRWP fairy tales unit by recreating The Three Little Pigs on AR Makr. The kids absolutely loved it! Many are still creating at home with more physical additions (LEGO houses, etc.). More to come! #ARoniPad @PaulHamilton8 #EveryoneCanCreate @AppleEDU #VSAHKG pic.twitter.com/v3TyqxiB7b
