British Science Week

Today we were showing  the class our Science projects for British Science Week.  We showed some of our projects to Mrs Tees as well.  The ones that were most popular were Make it Fly and the Journey Sticks. Dillon even found a fox toe bone to add to his journey stick! We got nice comments from our peers in the class.

Thank you for bringing in your projects. – Douglas

Literacy – Paired Presentations

This week we have been working on paired presentations.  We had to find a non-fiction book from the school Library. We sat in our pairs and wrote a presentation together in our Writing Jotters. It was hard for us to  memorise it so that we could look at our audience.  Some of us tried to glance at our jotters to remember what we were saying.

I can’t wait till we do the next presentation! – Liya

Art – Sketching Gavin’s bike

Today at school we brought Gavin’s bike into the classroom to sketch. We had to use pastels , pencils, fineliners and charcoal. We had to use A4 paper to sketch the bike in different positions. It was hard from some angles but easier from others. It was amazing seeing all the different ideas.  Thanks Gavin for letting us borrow your bike!

More Fitness Routines

Today we finished demonstrating our fitness routines for our own class.  We’ve got another couple of weeks to perfect them and then we’ll be teaching them to P4a and P4b.

We hope the other classes have fun when they get to do it with us! – Douglas

Science Week with Mr Russell

This morning we did a Science experiment with Mr Russell. We had to create a chemical reaction using warm water, food colouring, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. When we mixed them together we created a gas. The gas made the bags POP!

It was really exciting seeing the bag pop! – Rose

P4 STEM Challenge – British Science Week

Some pictures from our Challenge.  We had to build a marble run using cardboard struts.  The marble has to take 60 seconds to reach the bottom. We had to check our marbles fitted the struts.

Electric Circuits

This week we built a circuit with a buzzer. We asked each other multiplication questions and tried to buzz in quickly.

Science – Electricity

P4c have been building circuits!  Today we tested lots of materials in the classroom to see if they were conductors or insulators.  Conductors make the bulb light up!  We discovered that the conductors all had metal in them.

Poems for Thinking

This week we have been using Poems for Thinking in our Health and Wellbeing time.  We talked about the poem I Saw a Peacock.  We thought the strangest line was “I saw an ant swallow a whale.”  Most of us thought this couldn’t be true so we discussed what could swallow a whale.

I think a black hole could swallow a whale because they swallow EVERYTHING! – Will
