Art – Flower zentangles

We have been creating zentangle artworks of flowers.  We each drew a quarter of a flower so we could match them up to create one big flower.

In the background we added painted shades of a cool colour going from light to dark.

Yesterday we put our flower zentangles together to create one big flower.  Check out the photos below.

Can you spot your work of art?

Literacy – Speech Marks

This week the Question Marks were looking for speech marks in their current novel Mrs Dippy.  We read part of the story aloud for the rest of the class.  Each person in the group was either reading the direct speech or the part the narrator would say. We had to pay attention to the speech verbs and to other punctuation marks such as question marks and exclamation marks so we knew how to say it.

Hannan – It was really fun reading it out with my friends.

Numeracy – Revision

Today we have been using the EdPax software to revise place value and multiplication word problems. There were some really tricky questions about money too!

It was really fun.  I hope we do it next week. – Becky

It was fun working out what the items cost. – Rose

Happy National Numeracy Day

Today is National Numeracy Day.  Here we are playing games and doing activities to build on our multiplication skills, counting with money and grid references.

Literacy – Writing

This week we are writing an imaginative story about a friendly vampire. We’ve had great fun discussing our ideas.

It’s quite cool because we get to design our own vampires. – Cara

Take a look at the link below to see where we got our inspiration from – https://www.onceuponapicture.co.uk/portfolio_page/a-friendly-vampire/a-friendly-vampire/

Here are some of our drawings of what we think a friendly vampire looks like.

Literacy – Grammar

We have been using the new EdPaX software to revise adjectives.  We had great fun coming out to draw on the screen to illustrate what our pairs of nouns and adjectives would look like.

Here are some photos of us with our show-me boards.  We had to think of adjectives to describe an image of a hat.

Science – The Water Cycle

We drew the water cycle onto a see through bag.   We labelled it with the words evaporation, collection, condensation and precipitation. Then we put blue food colouring in and some water. We taped them to the window and we have been observing them. When the sun shines on them it will make the water form droplets.  You can watch a video about this experiment below.

Here are photos of our experiment in action.

Nathan – Lots of the bags have droplets on them now.

Final Fitness Sessions

We had lots of fun doing our fitness sessions for P4a and P4b. We all got very hot and tired.  It was a very long time so we had to take regular breaks.  We hope the other classes enjoyed our fitness sessions.

I hope we get fitter. – Gavin

Literacy – Roman Reports continued

We have been starting off our reports about the Romans.  Look at our amazing layouts!

Here is the link to our previous post about our reports.

Music – Drumstick Game

We have been practising our rhythms with Mrs Lyall.  Today, we played a circle game with the drumsticks.  We had a lovely time for our last afternoon.  Happy holidays everyone!
