Literacy – Speech Marks

This week the Question Marks were looking for speech marks in their current novel Mrs Dippy.  We read part of the story aloud for the rest of the class.  Each person in the group was either reading the direct speech or the part the narrator would say. We had to pay attention to the speech verbs and to other punctuation marks such as question marks and exclamation marks so we knew how to say it.

Hannan – It was really fun reading it out with my friends.

Literacy – Writing

This week we are writing an imaginative story about a friendly vampire. We’ve had great fun discussing our ideas.

It’s quite cool because we get to design our own vampires. – Cara

Take a look at the link below to see where we got our inspiration from – https://www.onceuponapicture.co.uk/portfolio_page/a-friendly-vampire/a-friendly-vampire/

Here are some of our drawings of what we think a friendly vampire looks like.

Literacy – Grammar

We have been using the new EdPaX software to revise adjectives.  We had great fun coming out to draw on the screen to illustrate what our pairs of nouns and adjectives would look like.

Here are some photos of us with our show-me boards.  We had to think of adjectives to describe an image of a hat.

Literacy – Roman Reports continued

We have been starting off our reports about the Romans.  Look at our amazing layouts!

Here is the link to our previous post about our reports.

Literacy – Paired Presentations

This week we have been working on paired presentations.  We had to find a non-fiction book from the school Library. We sat in our pairs and wrote a presentation together in our Writing Jotters. It was hard for us to  memorise it so that we could look at our audience.  Some of us tried to glance at our jotters to remember what we were saying.

I can’t wait till we do the next presentation! – Liya

World Book Day

We had to swap a book that we brought in for another one.  We had great fun discovering new books.

We heard about Mrs Tees’ favourite book – The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

We brought in props to represent different stories – we got to hear about lots of different books.

We had to continue the story in the ‘travelling book.’ We can’t wait to find out how it finishes.

I really enjoyed World Book Day. I can’t wait for next year. Lori
