Non-Fiction Posters, Dictionary Skills and Data Handling!

We are extremely excited for you to see our Bee Musical Show before the Easter Holidays. We have been practising every day and are becoming more and more confident saying our lines and remembering our awesome dance moves!

However, we have still been working hard to complete our Literacy activities! This week, we were practising our Dictionary Skills! After we read our story, we used our dictionary to find the definitions of tricky words that were new to us or words we had never heard of before!

As our Musical is about Bees, we have been completing reading tasks based on non-fiction texts related to Bees! After reading an unseen text, we found the main ideas to create a poster all about Bees!

Our Poster explained the following:

  • Why are bees important?
  • Why are bees dying?
  • How can we protect bees?
  • Other facts

Here are some pictures of us enjoying paired reading!

This week, we have focused on predictions too!

We continue to use active spelling tasks to practise our spelling words! This week our sound is ‘ou’.

In Maths & Numeracy we continued to explore Data Handling! We are learning to display information we have collected! We created our own surveys and collected information from our peers. We used this information to create a bar chart!

We did the same, but this time we went around our classroom to find items to record such as tables, chairs and trays.

To consolidate our learning of Tessellation, we created our own patterns ensuring there were no gaps in our designs.

Here is a picture of Emelia and Aria who are very proud for completing an extremely challenging puzzle!

We are in the swing of practising and preparing for our Bee Musical show! We cannot wait!

For PE next week and the week after, PE will be outdoors with Mr McMillan, rather than indoors! 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend superstars and see you on Monday!

Love Mrs Amin xxx
