This week outdoors we were finding materials outside to make pictures with. We found things like grass, mud and sand to make our beautiful pictures.

We read the book ‘Winston of Churchill, One Bears Battles Against Global Warming’ and this gave us a good insight into global warming. We have decided to make some changes in our classroom and we made pledges that we will, use both sides of the paper, recycle old toys, bin all rubbish and recycle. We also explored the properties of water and noticed how quickly ice melted when we added water or held it in our hands. This helped us to understand what was happening to the polar bears ice. We have been doing a great job of carrying out our pledges!

We enjoyed using our knowledge of 2D shapes to make our very own shape pizzas, they looked so yummy!

We have also been practicing identifying numbers before and after. Creating numicon monsters and making 2D shapes using pom poms.

In Literacy, we have been working hard on all our sounds and our common words. In our reading books we were set a challenge to find one common one and anytime we found it we had to cover it up.

Here are some more highlights from the week.

Next week is book week Scotland and we will be looking at the story ‘One Button Benny’ and we will be doing some ‘STEM-A-Story’ challenges throughout the week based on the book. Could I please ask that you send in any ‘junk’ modelling materials like cardboard boxes or plastics bottles on Monday. It would be hugely appreciated.
Have a lovely weekend and well done for all your super work this week!
Miss Regan
